Felt is an ancient and long fabric. Its manufacturing method was spread in ancient Rome. It is a well-known craft in Europe.

Besides, there are many legends about the origin of felt. But the most interesting one is Saint Clement, the guardian of western shoe and hat merchants.

Once, Saint Clement ran deeper into the woods to escape the pursuit of the enemy. His feet began to get hot and painful, but he still had to try to get rid of the enemy chasing him. So, he found some hair in the woods and stopped to collect it. To alleviate the pain, he wrapped the collected hair around his feet, then put his feet back in his shoes and continued to run. When he finally reached a safe place, he took his sore feet out of his shoes and found that they had become a pair of felt shoes. Since then, felt has been widely used in religious ceremonies, becoming a divine product to expel demons and bring good luck.

Later, people found that wool has high-quality properties such as non-woven, integrated formability, warmth retention, water resistance, fire resistance, color fixation, and heat insulation. They began to use wool as a manufacturing material for advanced handicrafts and then let felt handicrafts enter the palace of art.

Today, after several centuries of the prevalence of felt technology in Europe and the United States, it has set off a fashion trend in Japan, Taiwan, and other places. On the norm, it has always been hotly pursued by many fashionable and popular people. It can be said that people who have not played felt crafts have been regarded as far away from the trend.
